July Favourites!

I have been loving a couple of bits and bobs this month, so I thought I'd share with you my faves!

Makeup
Not too many makeup faves this month as I haven't really tried out different makeup brands etc. However, I have been re-loving some old products.

Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butters in 'Tutti Frutti'
These lip butters are really moisturizing and give a really nice pop of colour to the lips as well as a glossy finish. I'm desperate to go back and try out more colours in this collection!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
I know, same old same old! The Wake Me Up foundation is an extremely popular choice, however I have been especially loving it lately and I've been using it almost every day!

Nail Varnish

Barry M Gelly Nail Varnish in 'Blueberry'
I've heard so many good things about Gelly nail varnishes. I have serious trouble with nail varnish, I normally chip it within an hour of painting my nails, ridiculous I know! These Gelly nail varnishes last for ages and don't chip easy either. I'm definitely sticking to mainly Gelly nail varnish from now on!

Essie Limited Edition Summer Nail Varnish in 'Sunday Funday'
Every single colour in this collection was stunning and if they weren't so pricey I would of bought every colour there and then! It's a stunning bubble gum pink colour with really pretty sparkly shimmers in it. Very summery!

Foodie Faves

Oreos

Omg, I have an unhealthy obsession with Oreos! I literally can't stop eating them it's crazy haha! I wish the UK sold all the different flavours! If I go to America I know what I'm bringing back in my suitcase!

Raspberry Milkshakes
In my garden we grow raspberries and this year there has been a TON of them! Seriously, my freezer is filled to the brim with raspberries! I've been making use of the vast raspberry collection in many different tasty ways. My favourite, however, is raspberry milkshake, it just tastes soo darn good! (especially if you dunk Oreos in it!) Maybe I'll do a short recipe blog post on my version of a raspberry milkshake!

So there you have it, my monthly faves! What have you been loving this month? Are any of your favourites the same as mine?

A Beauty and Fashion Guide to the 1920s

Since the release of the film 'The Great Gatsby' the 1920s has become a very fashionable era.

I love the signature makeup looks and fashions inspired by all things Hollywood and glamour.

Here is my guide to beauty and fashion in the 1920s...

Fashion
Women's fashion in the 1920s was a rejection of Victorian style and the Gibson Girl look.
Gibson Girl
The fashions in the 1920s was strongly influenced by the culture that created it. 1920s fashion was perhaps the most influential in creating modern tastes in women's clothes.

It was the decade of the first swing dancer (aka. Flapper) called Lindy Hop. From this the 'Flapper Dress' was born.

Flapper Dresses have been worn on the red carpet by many celebrities, for example, Kate Moss.

If you are looking to buy a more modern style of flapper or swing dress, ASOS have a great selection: here!

Long beaded necklaces and feather headbands were paired with the typical flapper dress.

My Flapper Outfit Idea:

Shoes- ASOS- £19.99
Necklace- Miss Selfridge - £5.00

Hair
Hair in the 1920s was either curls or an elfin crop. The actress Louise Brooks was a massive style icon and introduced the elfin style hair cut.

Another popular hair style was a soft wavy look.

Makeup
Makeup in the 1920s was all about the bold, smokey eye, thin, precise eyebrows and the perfectly sculpted red lip. A pale complexion was also preferred. Women were encouraged to wear as much makeup as possible as lots of makeup was seen as being very beautiful.

Drugstore products I recommend for recreating classic 1920s makeup:

Eyes- I think an eyeshadow palette is an easier way to recreate a smokey eye as all the colours you need are there.

Collection 2000 Smokey eye palette
The Falsies Mascara

Lips- A shiny but still pigmented classic red lipstick is perfect for a bold 1920s lip look. Women made their lips look smaller and a more precise lip shape.

Rimmel Apocalips in the shade 'Big Bang'

Face- Pale complexions were fashionable in the 1920s so white powders were often used. To create a 1920s complexion use a foundation one shade lighter than your normal shade.

Bourjois 123 Perfecting Foundation

Then matte your face with a pale powder.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder

Then gently define your cheekbones using a matte bronzer.

Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer

Apply a dot of blusher to the apples of your cheeks. A red blusher is best.

There you have it, my fashion and beauty guide to the 1920s! Hope you've enjoyed this post and it has been helpful!

My 2013 Summer Essentials

Hey Guys!

I have seen loads of these tags floating about the internet so today I have decided to share with you my 2013 summer essentials!

1. Maybelline BB Cream
I have always been a massive BB cream fan! BB Cream covers imperfections and protects you from the sun's rays. This BB cream is SPF 35 which makes it all the more appealing to me as a sun burnt face is not the look I'm going for this summer!

2.  Maybelline Color Tattoo

Tried and tested these cream eyeshadows are waterproof, waheeey!  They come in sooo many pretty colours and are super shimmery on the eyelid. They are also very budget happy! Next I'm aiming to buy the green one, so so pretty!

3. Soap and Glory Archery Eyebrow Pencil and Tint

I purchased this a few weeks ago and I am LOVING it! It is double ended, one with a waxy brow pencil and the other with a brow tint. It works really well at defining eyebrows but still keeps them looking natural. Plus it's waterproof!

4. Maybelline Baby Lips

These are such pretty colours and give your lips a really lovely tint of colour when you don't feel like wearing lipstick.  They come in soo many lovely summery colours.

5. L'Oreal Salt Spray

To get the ultimate beachy look salt spray is a must! Using heat on your hair in summer doesn't do it much good, so salt spray is a great alternative!

6. Mojito

Mojitos are the perfect summer drink and soo refreshing, alcoholic or non alcoholic!

What are your summer essentials?
